 Refractor Focuser 2" Rack and Pinion - All Metal Design - With 1.25" Adaptor

A very nice, strong and precise 2" focuser for refractors. The focuser has almost no play and is recommended without any restrictions for any kind of visual use.

The metal focuser drawtube is guided by three strips of Teflon. Shifting and friction can be adjusted easily.

An adaptor from 2" to 1.25" is already included - you will still be able to use your 1.25" accessories. The adaptor has an integrated T-2 connecting thread.

A locking thumbscrew will tightly secure focus for astronomical imaging.

A nice touch: This 2" focuser has a mostly standardised finder quick exchange device. You can attach many finders directly.

2" Crayford Focuser For Refractors

TS 2" Crayford focuser. Both 2" and 1.25" accessories are firmly clamped with a brass compression ring. The 2" on 1.25" adaptor has an integrated 2" filter thread. It is included in the scope of delivery.

High Quality Crayford Focusers for Refractors
 
This focuser offers a very smooth focus motion and zero image shift due to the Crayford design with roller bearings. It fits many different telescopes, for example Celestron, Skywatcher, Helios, GSO, ... 80mm and 90mm refractors.

Of course the focuser is also ideally suited for ATM purposes.

Specifications and Dimensions:
- 86mm flange diameter (fits tube inside diameters of 86mm). The focuser is fixed to the telescope with three M4 threads that sit radially in this flange.

- 72mm focus travel

- length from end of telescope tube to end of 2" clamp with focuser fully retracted: 92mm

Scope of Delivery:

Crayford Focuser with 360 degree rotation system, 1.25" reducer with brass compression ring. Incl. finder bracket for standard 8x50 finderscopes

 This focuser was specifically made for all Synta refractors with an aperture of 100mm or more. Refractors of this make are sold under various brands: Celestron, Helios, Konus, Sky-Watcher, Orion.

No modifications are needed in order to attach this focuser, it will fit onto your telescope directly. The great advantage: A Crayford focuser like this can by design principle not have any play, there will be no image shift.

TS 2" Crayford Focuser for Newtonian Telescopes

The TS Crayford focuser for Newtonian telescopes was designed to offer many improvements over other existing, similar looking focusers.

Advantages of the Crayford Design:
- ultra-smooth
- finely adjustable
- absolutely zero image shift

Improvements of our TS Crayford focuser over similar focusers:
- more focus travel - 40mm instead of under 30mm. This alone solves many focus problems
- friction adjustment is achieved with a thumbscrew, not a slug screw that can only be operated with tools.

Min. Height above tube: 73mm from base to top of 2" drawtube - extra height with 1.25" adaptor: 10mm
Focus Travel: 40mm - more than in other, similar looking Crayford focusers
Base Radius approx. 165mm. The focuser can of course also be attached to larger tubes, but there will be a small gap between the base radius and the tube.

The base is attached with four screws. Position of the four holes: 70mm x 72mm (parallel to tube axis x radial)
This focuser will directly fit onto your existing GSO, ICS-Galaxy, Hardin Optical Dobsonian as well as older Orion Skyquest Dobsonians.

You can turn the focuser to bring the two focusing knobs into a comfortable position easily - for instance 45 degrees in a Dobsonian telescope. Just loosen the two slug screws in the base, turn the focuser and tighten the slugs again.
Features 2" brass compression ring, adaptor from 2" to 1.25" with brass compression ring and 2" filter thread. The friction can be adjusted with a large thumbscrew. A second thumbscrew can lock the focuser tightly in position.

Locking Screw and Friction Adjustment:

When we compared our focuser with other, much more expensive focuser we were surprised by how smooth the focuser moves. Also, the friction adjustment turns out to be much easier since our focuser utilises a thumbscrew instead of a slug.

There are two large thumbscrews (see big image above). The upper thumbscrew locks the focuser - you can use very heavy accessories without fear of losing focus.
The lower thumbscrew regulates the tension of the focuser - at the easiest setting the focuser moves ultra-smooth like no other focuser we have seen so far. At tighter settings you can use heavy accessories without sacrificing much of the incredible smoothness of motion.

TS 1:10 2" Crayford Focuser for Newtonian Telescopes



A full 360° turn with the 1:10 microfocusing knob means a movement of only 1.4mm!

This way ultra-precise focus motion is possible for both visual and particularly photographical applications.

Our Practice-Proven Newtonian Crayford Focuser - Now With Dual Speed 1:10 Microfocuser!

The focuser is the most "visible" part of any telescope with the exception of the optics themselves. You touch the focuser all the time, the focuser is responsible for holding your eyepieces or camera in position and moving them precisely into focus in the first place.

Bearing all this in mind we created an upgraded version of the TS Newtonian Crayford focuser. The upgrade consists of a 1:10 dual speed micro-focusing knob for even smoother focus motion.

Applications:

2" Low Profile Crayford Focuser for Newtonians

The TS Crayford focuser for Newtonian telescopes was designed to offer many improvements over other existing, similar looking focusers.

Advantages of the Crayford Design:
- ultra-smooth

- absolutely zero image shift

Add to this additional features such as the low profile, 1:10 microfocuser, a brass compression ring etc.

This focuser is the ideal solution if you have focusing problems with your existing high profile focuser!
Applications:
The main field of use is of course astro-imaging. Here a very smooth, high precision focuser is essential for the overall success of your astrophotographical efforts.

The focuser is also suitable if you want to build a telescope with the smallest possible secondary mirror diameter.

And thirdly, the focuser will often solve focusing problems with standard Newtonians that frequently don't have enough intrafocal focus travel.

How To Use It:
There are two thumbscrews to adjust the focuser:
- the thumbscrew nearer the eyepiece or camera adjusts the tension of the focuser.
- the thumbscrew nearer the telescope tube is the locking screw. Once engaged the focusing wheels can be turned loosely without moving the focuser drawtube.

Focus Speed: A 360° motion of the 1:10 microfocusing knob results in a movement of only 1.4mm. A motion of 10° (which is of course very easy to achieve) results in a movement of only 0.038mm! This is more than enough precision even for critical astro-imaging.

Schmidt Cassegrain Crayford Focuser

Schmidt Cassegrain Focuser 2" with 1.25" Adaptor

Many users consider the primary mirror focusing mechanism of Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes cumbersome to use. There is some amount of image shift and focus cannot be found easily. This is inconvenient for visual use and a serious problem for astrophotography.

Our SCT focuser solves this problem. With its Crayford focuser design it has practically zero image shift and a very smooth focus motion.

Both 2" and 1.25" accessories are clamped with a brass compression ring to avoid scratches.

Minimum length of the focuser is approximately 85mm, focus range is about 40mm (more than in conventional SCT focusers).

We offer two variants: The standard variant is recommended for visual use. The 1:10 version is recommended for astro-imaging and for even more demanding visual use.
