90 Degree Angled Finderscope - Erect Image

Bad quality finderscopes are a well known and well feared facet of many telescopes. Finding objects is a matter of luck and patience. Not so with Orion's 90 degree angled finderscope.

These filters permit only about 1/1,000 of a percent of the solar light. The rest is safely reflected away. This is the reason why these filters look like mirrors.

The high energy sunlight doesn't reach the inside of your telescope, where it could otherwise cause significant damage. There will also be no heat buildup inside the telescope, further increasing the image quality.

Instruments with the focal plane near one of the optical elements, such as reflecting telescopes, can only be operated with an objective solar filter. But we generally recommend to use objective side solar filters rather than eyepiece filters in all cases!

The sun will keep its characteristic white colour. The filters are ideally suited both for photography and visual application.

Each glass filter is mounted in an aluminium cell that fits snugly over the aperture of your telescope. Various sizes exist (see table below).

Many observing nights end abruptly because of dew on the telescope's objective. Flexible dewcaps minimize this problem by effectively reducing the formation of dew.

The dewcaps fit snugly around the telescope tube and is fastened with velcro. They are made of durable plastic that won't break.

For transport just wrap the dewcap around the telescope tube - that way you won't have extra transport volume and will also protect the tube.

RedBeam LED flashlight

Dual Beam Red / White LED flashlight

These are not just refitted normal flashlights, but rather LED flashlights specifically made for astronomy. The brightness is infinitely adjustable, both models offer red light, the DualBeam also has a switch that will turn to white light instead if the need arises. The lamps can be operated with gloves on.

By adjusting the brightness you will always have the right amount of light, be it for reading a star chart or for walking around the observing site.

Power drainage is very low, the batteries will last up to 600 hours.

Dimensions of the flashlights: only 25 x 30 x 100mm

The lamps can tolerate very low temperatures much better than many conventional flashlights.

Beautiful Aluminium Focus Knobs with Rubber Grips

The focuser is probably the most frequently used component of a telescope. Unfortunately many telescopes are only equipped with cheap plastic knobs that are not comfortable to use and ugly to look at.

These focus knobs are not only used for improved ergonomics, but also for their great looks. A telescope will immediately look much more "expensive" just by adding these nice gimmicks.

The TS / Orion focus knobs fit on all focusers whose focus knobs are held by a central screw. (Vixen, GSO, Skywatcher, Celestron, Meade, many others)

Mounting the knobs is very simple. Just remove the old knob, replace it by the aluminium knob and fix it with the screw.

These look really great. In our opinion they match ideally on black tubes, but also to white tubes. A telescope will just look so much more "high-quality" with these knobs on.

A comfortable viewing position is crucial for successful observing. Or just imagine how you have to sit for minutes or even hours in a particular position for astro-imaging - this is terrible with a bad chair!

The Observer Chair is a solid, freely adjustable chair. Height is adjustable from approx. 20cm to 85cm - adjustment can be done without any tools.

For easier transport the chair can be folded down. The seat is cushioned and water resistant.

Even with a dewcap there will still be a slow formation of dew on most telescopes. Once there is too much dew you might not be able to continue observing at all. Cleaning the optics with a piece of cloth is not recommended because of the risk of damaging the telescope.

The Solution: The 12V Dew Remover Gun!
All cars and Powertanks have a cigarette lighter plug. Just plug in the 12V dew remover gun and you can remove the dew from the optics with warm air - you don't need to touch the optics so there won't be any scratches. The slightly warmed glass will also prevent the formation of further dew for a while.

Recommended Use:

By warming not only the lens, but also the tube and the dewcap you can prolong the period until new dew will appear.

The dew remover gun is not meant for long-term operation, so don't use it for warming yourself in the cold night. You might end up with an empty car battery and a long way to walk home!

Amateur astronomers often spend a lot of money on a mirror substrate with good thermic properties for quicker cool-down. But for the image quality the mirror substrate is not important, so long as it is homogenous and without internal stress.

There is a very simple way to reduce the cooldown time even with simple mirror substrates: An active cooling fan that is mounted behind the primary mirror.

How it works:
With the cooling fan you will move the cold ambient air around the primary mirror, resulting in a shorter cooldown time. The time can be reduced by up to 50 percent, so you can begin observing much sooner.

Mounting the Fan
The cooling fan is usually attached to the primary mirror cell. You can do this using screws or just a bit of double sided tape. You should connect the fan in a way so that it blows air onto the mirror.

Cleaning Tool For Eyepieces, Lenses, or even Telescopes

The Lens Pen is a dedicated cleaning tool for all kinds of optical surfaces.

On one side there is a retractable camel hair brush. You can easily remove dust without scratching the optical surface. After use you can retract the brush for safe storage.

On the other side there is a chamois pad with a non-abrasive, dry cleaning agent.

The lens pen has approximately the same size as a ball-point pen, so you can easily fit it into your personal eyepiece case.

Motorfocus
Focus without touching the telescope - with hand paddle!

The Motorfocus mounted on a telescope. Power supply is by a normal 9V battery inside the hand paddle.

Focusing by hand often is a frustrating experience, especially with simple focusers and an undersized mount. Vibrations and coarse motion of the focuser will make finding focus a game of chance.

The Motorfocus offers comfortable and easy focusing by pressing onto two buttons on a hand paddle.

Orion Motorfocus
Two buttons move the focuser inwards or outwards at a chosen speed (controlled by the third button). No vibrations will be caused in the process. This allows you to find precise focus both visually and for photographical applications.

The Motorfoc is compatible to:
Orion ..... All telescopes with rack and pinion focuser
Skywatcher / Synta ..... All Synta telescopes with rack and pinion focuser
Celestron ..... All telescopes with rack and pinion focuser

......... The Motorfoc will of course also fit to many similar telescopes. Mounting the focuser is very simple and takes only a few minutes.

Important: The focuser fits only Synta rack and pinion focusers. It does not fit for any Crayford focusers (e.g. ED 80)

Orion Anti Vibration Pads are made of a special visco-elastic material that damps out vibrations quickly. Vibrations are one of the most common problems of many telescopes - whenever you touch the focuser of the telescope, or whenever there is a bit of wind, the image will start shaking and takes some time to stand still again.

The Orion RockStable Anti Vibration Pads reduce the time until vibrations have died down significantly!

Long telescope tubes have the tendency to collide with the tripod of a mount. Owners of refractors, long Newtonians, Maksutov-Newtonians etc. certainly know this problem.

The Orion half pillars were made to correct this problem. But the half pillars have other advantages as well:

- the risk of the tube colliding with the tripod is reduced to a neglectible minimum
- you need not extend the tripod as much, resulting in a better overall stability
- you get a higher operation height compared with the tripod without a half pillar. Viewing position of long refractors will be raised to a more comfortable height.

The half pillars were made for Orion mounts, but also fit many other common mounts.
