Star diagonal mirror 90° - 1.25"

A low cost star diagonal mirror of reasonable optical quality and simply but well-working mechanics. It has a reflectivity of approximately 89% and has a protective coating.

1.25" Erecting Prisms - 45° and 90°

1.25" Erecting Prism - 90°

Erecting prisms 45° and 90° - 1.25"

Erecting prisms are used for terrestrial observations with a telescope (they do not work with Newtonian telescopes). Without the prisms images will be upside-down and mirror-reversed. When using either the 90° or 45° erecting prism images will be terrestrially correct.

You can use the erecting prism with any telescope with 1.25" focuser, or with any telescope with a 2" focuser and a 1.25" adaptor. The only exception are Newtonian telescopes due to their narrow focal position.

We warmly recommend erecting prisms for terrestrial use. For astronomical use a normal star diagonal is the better choice.

Low-cost 2" Star diagonal mirror

Both 2" star diagonal mirrors are of a decent mechanical and optical quality at a bargain price. The body is an all metal construction.

Of course both star diagonal mirrors come complete with a 1.25" adaptor.

2" Barrel Version
A star diagonal mirror to be used with standard 2" focusers on any telescope with sufficient focus travel, like most Refractors and Maksutov-Cassegrains. The diagonal has a 2" filter thread.

Schmidt-Cassegrain Thread Version
Instead of the 2" barrel this star diagonal mirror features an SC thread. You can attach this diagonal directly to Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes and many Maksutov-Cassegrains, as long as there is a SC thread on the telescope. The big advantage: The SC thread diagonal fits more tightly to the telescope.

2" star diagonal with a massive all metal body

Star Diagonal Mirror 90° with 2" Barrel

This star diagonal mirror has a highly reflective mirror with a precise surface. It can be used on all telescopes with a 2" focuser and sufficient focus travel.

Contrary to many 2" diagonals there is no vignetting of the full 2" field.

The 2" barrel has a filter thread. Likewise, the 1.25" adaptor (always included) also has a 2" filter thread. This allows you to comfortably use your 2" filters on all 1.25" eyepieces without the hassle of unscrewing the filter all the time.

Features of the 2" Star Diagonal Mirror

This diagonal mirror features a refreshingly massive mechanical design. Contrary to many cheap 2" diagonals the entire body is made of metal.

The 2" barrel has a safety undercut that prevents the mirror from falling out of the focuser by accident. Likewise, the 1.25" adaptor also has a safety undercut.

The 2" barrel has an integrated 2" filter thread. This allows you to use 2" filters in the diagonal (please note: If you use filters that far away from the eyepiece the filter surface must be exceptionally well polished, like our Baader filters.) You can also attach your 2" filters to the 1.25" adaptor, which has a filter thread as well. Please be careful: Some eyepieces have relatively long 1.25" barrels - they might damage the filters in this position if inserted carelessly!
