Maksutov-Cassegrain, 102mm Aperture, 1400mm Focal Length The compact but nonetheless powerful TS Maksutov-Cassegrain is one of the most versatile compact telescopes we know. Despite its compact dimensions the Mak offers a great optical performance. Observing with the TS Mak: Due to the high optical quality the TS Mak will show you astonishing results at lunar and planetary observations. You will see tiny details on the face of the moon (little craterlets wherever you look). When conditions allow you will recognize the Cassini division in Saturn's rings. On Deep-Sky the comparably large light-gathering area (more than twice that of a 70mm telescope!) will reveal details otherwise invisible in such compact telescopes. Well over 1,000 objects can be observed within and without our milky way. Additionally, the sharp and contrasty optics make this Maksutov-Cassegrain very well suited for terrestrial use. 102mm of aperture will still show you plenty of details even in semi-darkness. Astro-Imaging: Astronomical imaging is easy with this telescope. Its universal 1.25" barrel means that you will find adaptors for all common cameras, either for focal photography or for eyepiece projection. Obviously, the telescope's crisp optics allow for wonderful images of the moon and the planets. DS Mak 150 ... Aperture 150mm ... Focal Length 1900mm A compact Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope primarily for deep sky use. It has a comparatively simple optical design, so contrast and image sharpness isn't as good for planets and moon. However, you get a very powerful deep sky telescope at a stunningly low price! Visual Use: The telescope can be used for all kinds of visual astronomy. Its main strength lies in the faint galaxies and gas nebulae of the deep sky. Thousands of deep sky objects are within reach of this telescope. Focusing by Moving The Primary Mirror: The focus mechanism moves the primary mirror, as in a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. As a result the telescope has a very large back focus for use even of exotic and long accessories. Photography: The illuminated field of view is comparatively good for a Maksutov, so you can even use SLR cameras. CCD imaging is of course even easier since most CCD cameras have relatively small sensor sizes. Equatorial Mount Astro-5 DX (left image): The mount carries the Maksutov with very good stability. MK 150 on the TS Astro-5 DX mount - a powerful combination

The MK 150 with 1.25" adaptor and 8x50 finderscope on the Astro-5 - in the image you can see the optional TS Super Plossl 32mm eyepiece, a hot recommendation for maximum fields of view with 1.25".

MK 150 ... 150mm Aperture ... 1800mm Focal Length ... f/12 This telescope combines many advantages in a very compact package. With a respectable 150mm of aperture it reveals many details on the mon and the planets and at the same time offers a very large light-gathering power for countless deep-sky objects. At the same time the telescope can be carried by a light and compact mount like the Astro-5. Primary Mirror Focus Mechanism - Versatility for Accessories The Maksutov has a standard SC thread at the rear end. Based on this thread there is a very large number of adaptors and accessories for this telescope. Of course a standard adaptation for T2 (photographical) and 1.25" (visual) accessories is included. Focus is attained by moving the primary mirror. Unlike many cheap primary mirror focus mechanisms the MK150 has a very smooth mechanism with little image shift. The big advantage of this mechanism: Focus travel is very long, allowing you to use many accessories such as binocular viewers directly. With the SC thread accessories can be fixed securely. Compared with a standard connection this enhances overall stability. Putting the MK150 on a mount The MK150 comes equipped with a standard Vixen / EQ compatible dovetail plate. Most mounts today use this quick release system for direct adaptation.

Focusing Focus is attained by moving the primary mirror. Just turn the well-sized focusing knob. Focus travel is large enough to support accessories like binocular viewers, focal reducers or cameras. Diameter of the Baffled Tube The MK150 was designed for photography and for long focal length 2" eyepieces. You can also use focal reducers without causing the otherwise common serious vignetting. A baffled tube is used for maximizing contrast.

The very good overall correction of the MK150 is reached by a very precise meniscus corrector lens and a secondary mirror with a different radius. With the resulting additional degree of freedom a better correction of the spherical aberration can be achieved.	The primary mirror of the MK150 can be collimated with three pairs of push-pull-screws at the rear of the telescope. Dust is kept out of the telescope by three dustcaps.

TS Quality Control: Each Bosma Maksutov-Cassegrain is tested on our artificial star. The test is made in auto-collimation and therefore with double accuracy. An image of the artificial star inside and outside of the focus is included for your reference.

The OMC 140 on a simple alt-azimuth mount. Due to its low weight it can be successfully mounted on a photo tripod.

The OMC 140 is a high-quality, high-performance Maksutov-Cassegrain of European make. It is produced in the UK. It combines quite a large aperture, compactness, portability and extremely good optical performance. Light Gathering Power: The instrument collects 2.4x more light than a 90mm Maksutov-Cassegrain. It has almost twice the light gathering power of a 100mm Maksutov and a respectable 22% gain when compared to a 120mm Mak. This means that the OMC 140 is not only suited for planetary observations, but also for Deep-Sky (galaxies, gas nebulae). Globular clusters become more than just fuzzy specks of light, they are already easily dissolved into single stars in the outer regions. You will notice first details in many galaxies, some (like the Whirlpool Galaxy M 51) will show you hints of their spiral arms. When using 2" accessories you will reach fields of view of up to 1.3°. Of course, the OMC is also a highly recommendable planetary telescope. The moon and the planets will surprise you with ever more details whenever you look at them. This is mostly due to the telescope's extremely high contrast and image sharpness. You can use many additional accessories like focal reducers or binoviewers due to the smooth focusing by moving the primary mirror, which essentially means that you can put the focus very far out. Obviously, the OMC 140 makes for a wonderful travel scope (or even a guiding scope for astronomical photography). It's ease of use also make it a special recommendation for beginners.
