Newtonians |
| Our Newtonian telescopes all have an excellent value for money. The optical and mechanical quality is another very important point that we take very seriously. All Newtonian mirrors have a robust coating that will effectively prevent aging effects of the reflective coatings. All of our Newtonian telescopes have a focuser that will accept 1.25" standard accessories. Some of the larger units even have a 2" focuser specifically made for astronomical imaging and rich field observations. A 1.25" focuser (as opposed to the cheap 24.5mm focusers often sold on small telescopes) is absolutely necessary if you want to have the option of buying further high-quality accessories. With a 24.5mm focuser you will never be able to use the telescope's full potential. Why buy a Newtonian telescope? Newtonian telescopes offer the best possible value for your money. If your interest lies mostly in Galaxies, gas nebulae and other faint objects beyond our solar system a Newtonian telescope would probably be the best choice. |

If you are looking for your first telescope you should consider this one. In many cases beginners do not yet know whether they will stick to amateur astronomy, or whether this hobby is not for them at all. Spending several hundred Euro for something you do not know whether you will use it at all is not a good idea, obviously. This is where this telescope comes in. Observing with the 76/700 Newtonian Reflector: This telescope will offer beautiful views of many objects, both within and beyond our solar system. The precisely figured primary mirror will show you many open clusters as they really are: Hundreds of pinpoint stars huddled close together in the blackness of surrounding space. 76mm of aperture are enough to see bright galaxies and gas nebulae like the Great Orion Nebula or the ring nebula in Lyra. As long as you do not expect such colourful images as those you can see on the internet (taken with the three billion Euro Hubble Space Telescope or other professional equipment) you will enjoy countless hours of awe under the night sky. Within our solar system you will also find plenty of fascinating objects. You will discover the phases of Venus, the cratery surface of the moon, the bands in Jupiter's atmosphere and, of course, Saturn's famous rings. The Alt-Azimuth Mount: A simple but efficient design that allows you to easily point the telescope wherever you like. The aluminium tripod is adjustable in height. We recommend this telescope to children because of its ease of use. Only the refractor 70/800 is easier to use than this telescope. Recommended Magnifications: 28x to 120x |

|
The 1,25" Focuser: One of the major drawbacks of most telescopes in this price range is that they are equipped with a 24.5mm focuser only. Most good quality accessories are only available for 1.25" focusers, which means that you would not be able to upgrade your telescope by purchasing better accessories. Our 76/700 Newtonian features a proper 1.25" focuser. That way you can use good filters and eyepieces. You may even try taking a few snapshots of the moon and planets. |
|
Complete Set of Accessories: The Newtonian comes complete with a set of accessories to get started: - 5x24 finderscope - 1.25" Huygens eyepieces: 20mm (35x), 12.5mm (56x), 4mm (175x - usually not recommended) - 2x barlow lens (not suitable for use with 4mm eyepiece) - erecting lens for terrestrial use |

| If there ever was a "classical" entry-level telescope, this is it. It combines a respectable aperture of 114mm with a properly dimensioned equatorial mount. All kinds of amateur astronomy - be it observing the planets, deep sky objects or even astro-imaging - are possible with this allround telescope. There are many different brands of this classical telescope, and sometimes they vary widely when it comes to accessories, optical or mechanical quality. Some of these telescopes feature the old 24.5mm focusers that essentially cut you off from all higher quality accessories. Our TS Newtonians all have a standard 1.25" focuser that enables you to use nearly any accessories you like. Observing with the 114/900 114mm aperture means a lot of light for your eyes. Many objects beyond our solar system are within the reach of this telescope. You will see why M-57 is called the "ring nebula"; M-13 is dissolved into single stars near the edge. In the constellation of Virgo you will be able to see various small galaxies. The relatively small secondary mirror means a very good contrast and sharpness on the moon and the planets. You will see the atmospheric bands on Jupiter and Saturn's famous rings. The relatively large aperture allows for the use of colour filters - you will still have enough light for your eyes. Astro Imaging The 1.25" focuser not only enables you to use standard accessories for visual use, but also for astro imaging. With our projection adaptors you will be able to take impressive images of the moon and the planets. The easiest entry into astronomical photography is to put a digital camera behind the eyepiece of your telescope. We offer adaptors for most digital cameras. Specs: Precisely figured primary mirror - diameter (aperture) 114mm, focal length 900mm, focal ratio f/7.9. Diameter of the secondary mirror is 22mm. Recommended Magnifications: 23x to 170x

GSO Newtonian 150mm aperture on Sky View equatorial mount - an excellent entry level telescope

GSO Newtonian 150mm Aperture, 750mm Focal Length This GSO Newtonian is an excellent multi-purpose telescope. It combines a very good mechanical quality with an exceptional optical quality. Moon and the planets are depicted full of contrast and detail. You will be able to see Saturn's Cassini division and details in Jupiter's cloud belts. 150mm aperture offer a lot of light for serious deep sky observing. Countless gas nebulae, star clusters and galaxies are within reach of this telescope. The Great Andromeda Galaxy will be seen as an extended cloud with its satellite galaxies. In our opinion the optics of GSO Newtonians are better than those of Chinese make. The parabolical mirrors are very precisely figured and have a smooth surface for optimum contrast. |
| Astro Imaging With The GSO Newtonian 150/750mm For photographing gas nebulae and galaxies we recommend the T2 adaptor for the GSO Newtonian: The "GS-Fokaladapter". Just remove the 1.25" eyepiece holder and the small ring that connects it to the focuser and attach the T2 adaptor. Then all you will need is a normal T-ring for your SLR camera. For the moon and the planets you need higher magnifications. This is achieved by eyepiece projection. The TS PAT adaptor is attached to the GS Fokaladapter. You can then insert many standard 1.25" eyepieces (orthoscopic eyepieces for best results) and once again attach your SLR camera with a standard T-ring. We also offer adaptations for most digital cameras. Please request the adaptation for your specific camera. |

GSO Wide Field Newtonian - 200/800mm
Most opticians worldwide will agree: The shorter the focal length of a Newtonian primary mirror at a given diameter, the more difficult it is to make. This is probably the main reason why there are not many f/4 Newtonians around despite their obvious advantages for astro-imaging! |

Very Precise And Massive 2" Crayford Style Focuser The focuser is an important part of any telescope. If the focuser is good the telescope's full potential can be used. If the focuser is not good you might have trouble attaining a sharp image, no matter how good the optics would be! For the GSN 2008 we have used an excellent 2" Crayford style focuser. These focusers have zero image shift and move very smoothly. With a bit of experience you can do such small focus movements as 0.08mm! .... GSO " Universal " Newtonian - 200/1000mm
During the past couple of years - ever since prices for telescopes have considerably dropped due to production in the far east - the 200mm Newtonian with a focal length of 1000mm has become an increasingly popular choice for amateurs. We fully agree that a telescope of that aperture and focal length can be counted among the most versatile multi-purpose telescopes in existence. |
| Photographically Illuminated Field The GSN 2001 illuminates a field of 10mm at 100%. This is the typical illumination of a Newtonian optimized for a small secondary mirror obstruction. The useful photographical field is about 20mm in diameter. This is more than sufficient for typical CCD cameras and is even enough for digital cameras like the Canon EOS 350. If you prefer a larger illuminated field for larger format photography (classical 35mm format) we can exchange the secondary mirror for a 63mm mirror at an extra charge (see price list below). |
