|
The Skywatcher 80/400mm Rich-Field refractor is one thing above all: Ultra-portable! It will fit into any suitcase, even for airline traveling. Once set up the 80/400 will offer stunning rich field views. Stroll through the milky-way and find hundreds of star clusters and nebulae located in the midst of myriads of stars! With a 25mm eyepiece you get a magnification of only 16x, resulting in a true field of view of over 3°! This is equivalent to six times the diameter of the full moon! The telescope can also be used to some extent for planetary observing. For this we recommend not to go beyond about 100x magnification and to use our TS CC 1 variable colour filter to reduce false colour. Astro Imaging: Another strong point of this telescope is its use as a 400mm Tele-lens f/5. Thanks to its integrated T2 thread and the well dimensioned and sturdy metal focuser the telescope will offer good quality images of astronomical and terrestrial objects. Focuser: The focuser is an oversized 1.25" metal unit with smooth focus motion and a locking screw for heavy accessories. A T2 thread is integrated in its design, allowing the attachment of SLR cameras with only the need for a T-ring and no further adaptors. Specifications: Aperture 80mm ..... Focal Length 400mm ..... Focal Ratio f/5 Multi-Coated Fraunhofer Achromat - tube weight approx. 2kgs Recommended Magnifications: 20x to 100x (if you can accept some false colour you can go up to about 140x) Scope of Delivery: Tube colour: Blue Finder: You can choose between a red dot finder or a 6x30 optical viewfinder. | TS Rich Field Refractor 90mm Aperture - 500mm Focal Length For many amateur astronomers portability is a major concern for the choice of their telescope. Our TS 90/500mm refractor is still a very compact and universal telescope, despite its 26% more light gathering capacity compared with 80mm refractors. If you want to do Rich-field observations ( = as large as possible fields of view) this is the way to go! With a fully retracted focuser the tube is only 46cm long (approx. 18")! It will fit into any suitcase - perfect for airline travel. The overall weight of the optical tube complete with finderscope, star diagonal and eyepiece is only 1.8kgs! In addition to its excellent portability the compact dimensions and low weight mean that the Astro-3 carries the refractor with a very good stability. Even good photographical tripods will hold the refractor solidly. For this purpose the dovetail plate of the TS refractor has an integrated 1/4" photo-thread - nearly all photo tripods have this connection thread! |

Astronomical Observations: 90mm free aperture will show many nebulae and galaxies in detail. The beautiful Veil Nebula is a wonderful view to be seen, especially with narrowband nebular filters. Many open clusters of stars can be seen, especially in the region of the milky way. This is where this refractor excels! Compared with the 80mm rich-field refractors this telescope collects 26% more light, translating into brighter images and more details in all objects. On the moon you will be able to see many craters and mountain ranges. The large planets of our solar system can be observed in detail. For bright objects like the moon and the planets we recommend the use of a light yellow colour filter. This will reduce the refractor's false colour and enhance contrast and visibility of small details. |
| Photography: An adaptor for photography is included in the scope of delivery. Just screw it onto the focuser instead of the standard 1.25" clamp. With this adaptor you can attach all common SLR cameras to the telescope, you will only need a T2 ring which we offer for most cameras. This will turn the telescope into a telephoto lens with a focal length of 500mm at f/5. Of course you can also use your digital camera with this telescope. Just send a request by E-mail or contact us on the phone and we will offer a solution for your particular camera! If you equip your mount with a motor drive you can expect encouraging results in the field of astronomical photography. |

| Refractor, 90mm Aperture, 900mm Focal Length The refractor 90/900 Astro-3 is a wonderful instrument for amateurs looking for a versatile, all purpose telescope at a reasonable price. Many objects can be observed in beautiful detail due to the refractor's good contrast and its aperture of 90mm. On the whole, this is one of the best choices for beginners. In addition this telescope will last a lifetime. Even if you buy a larger, more powerful instrument later on the TS Refractor 90/900 will be a perfect "grab-and-go" telescope and a wonderful companion for travels. |
| Astronomical Observations: The refractor's long focal ratio makes it an excellent performer on the moon and the planets. Even at high magnifications you will not notice an image breakdown, as long as you do not exceed the theoretical limit of 180x. You will be able to see fine details on Jupiter and Saturn, as well as tiny craterlets on the face of the moon. You will feel as if you were walking on the moon's surface yourself. Beyond our solar system the aperture of 90mm will reveal many objects, from bright globular clusters (which are already being dissolved into single stars near the rim) to gas nebulae - like the Great Orion Nebula. The well-known ring-nebula in Lyra will appear as a fine ring of smoke surrounded by pinpoint stars. The images below will give you a rough impression of what you can expect to see with this refractor.
|
| Astronomical Imaging: With this telescope you can already do astronomical photography within certain limits. Photographies of the moon and the planets (especially using the Philips ToUCam pro) will show as many details as you can see directly - which is a lot. A standardised adaptor for cameras is already included. Just remove the standard 1.25" eyepiece holder and attach the tube with a T2 outside thread. This turns the TS refractor into a powerful telephoto lens with a focal length of 900mm at f/10. Thus equipped you will be able to get encouraging results both of terrestrial objects and of celestial objects. For astro-imaging you need to equip the Astro-3 mount with the optional motor drive. Adaptors for eyepiece projection (used for higher magnification imaging) are also available. |

This refractor's longer focal ratio brings along a further reduced chromatic aberration (false colour) compared to the f/5 version, thus enhancing the image quality on the moon and the planets. You can use high magnifications up to the theoretical limit of 200x without distracting false colour. There will be some remaining false colour, but this can be cut off by the use of a light yellow filter. Despite this, the telescope is still well suited for deep-sky observations. Using 1.25" eyepieces you will get a true field of view of up to 1.6° - more than three times the moon's diameter. 2" accessories will offer even wider fields of view. Photographically, you will get wonderful results with the moon and the planets. The smooth 2" focuser allows for precise focusing and will keep even heavy accessories precisely in position. Refractor - Aperture 120mm / Focal Length 600mm

|
Rich Field Refractor 120/600mm on AZ-3 alt-azimuth mount.
An ultra-portable combination for easy travelling. |
| Until recently it was next to impossible to produce fast rich field refractors of such a large aperture at a reasonable price. Only modern machines make this possible. Now it is possible to offer such a fast telescope at an affordable price and with a colour correction that will allow magnifications slightly beyond 100x without too much false colour. This turns the 120mm rich field telescope into a very popular, very compact and thus highly portable telescope. Visual Use: This is a true rich field telescope. It combines a large aperture of 120mm with a very short focal length for large fields of view. Just enjoy "walking" through the milky-way with its star clusters and gas nebulae, all of which embedded in myriads of background stars. Or have a look at the Great Andromeda Galaxy which can be seen in splendid detail! Watching the planets or the moon is not the strong point of this telescope. False colour will be prominent around those objects. With our TS CC 1 variable colour filter you can reduce the fringe of course, then some successful planetary and lunar observations are possible. Astro-Imaging: This telescope also resembles a very powerful tele lens with a focal length of 600mm at f/5. High quality deep sky images are possible. We do recommend to use a Violet Reduction filter to reduce false colour and a field flattening lens to get a sharper image throughout the field if you use a DLSR camera (recommended cameras) |
| Solid Mount for Astro-Imaging The Astro-5 DX equatorial mount offers enough stability and power reserves for a guide scope next to the main telescope. This is the basis for successful long exposure astro-imaging. An illuminated polar scope is included. The mount can be upgraded with a dual axis motor drive or even GoTo. |
Crayford Focuser For Extra Stability The "Syn-Foc" is a very well built Crayford style focuser. It offers enhanced stability, practically zero image shift and a 360° rotation mechanism. 2" and 1.25" accessories are held by a compression ring. This focuser only works with the 8x50 finderscope, not with the Starpointer! |
|
Recommended Magnifications: 20x to approx. 150x (from around 100x we recommend to use the TS CC 1 variable colour filter for reduction of false colour.) |

Refractor - Aperture 120mm / Focal Length 1000mm

|
Refractor 120/1000mm - an excellent telescope for demanding observers who enjoy the deep sky as well as the planets.
|
| The refractor with an aperture of 120mm and 1000mm focal length is one of the closest things to a universal telescope there is. It performs gallantly in nearly all applications, be it visual observing of the planets, the deep sky or astro imaging. The telescope is still quite portable for field use. Visual Use: With a moderate focal ratio of f/8.3 the telescope exhibits some false colour, but the effect is still very moderate. We can recommend the telescope even for planetary observing. Of course a TS CC 1 variable colour filter helps to reduce this potential problem to a minimum. With that help and under good seeing conditions the Cassini division in Saturn's rings or details on Mars' surface are easily visible. Beyond our solar system many thousand objects are within reach of this telescope. With 2" eyepieces you can get very large true fields of view for joyous strolls through the milky-way with its open clusters and nebulae. Famous nebulae like the Veil nebula can be seen in detail (here we recommend the Astronomik UHC filter for a large gain in contrast). Magnifications as high as 150x are possible with no loss in contrast. This makes the ring nebula M57 and other planetary nebulae an interesting target for this telescope. Astro-Imaging: Another area in which this telescope performs very well is astro-iimaging. The telescope will offer high resolution images of the moon and planets, e.g. with a Philips webcam. Fine structures can be seen on the moon that are beyond reach of smaller instruments. Deep Sky imaging is also possible. For this we recommend to use a Canon modified DSLR camera and a field flattening lens for optimal performance. |

The 2" Focuser: The 2" focuser with 1.25" adaptor allows you to use all common astronomical eyepieces. You can also use professional 2" accessories and adaptors. The focuser can be locked in position for long exposure astro-imaging. Recommended Magnifications: 25x to 240x Accessories: 8x50 viewfinder. In the complete set with mount we also include a 1.25" star diagonal and two eyepieces (Super 10mm and 20mm) |

Refractor - Aperture 150mm / Focal Length 750mm

Rich Field Refractor 150/750mm on H-EQ5 equatorial mount - a sturdy combination for visual and photographical use.
| Skywatcher offers one of the largest affordable f/5 rich field refractors on the market. This telescope is an extreme comet catcher - it offers very large fields of view - particularly with 2" accessories - at a refractor-like high contrast. With its short tube length of only about 80cm it is very portable despite its weight of 11kgs. Visual Use: This is a true rich field telescope. It is particularly suited for all kinds of extended objects like large galaxies, gas nebulae, star clusters, comets, ... With its refractor-like contrast you will see pinpoint stars. The aesthetic views through such a telescope are highly addictive! On the down side this telescope is not particularly suited for viewing the moon and the planets. With a yellow filter or with the TS CC 1 variable colour filter you will still be able to see lots of details on these objects. Tip: You should stop down the telescope to about 120mm aperture - that way you get a better contrast, reduced false colour and more image sharpness. Astro-Imaging: Good nebular filters or violet reduction filters are required, but then you get a very powerful telephoto lens with an enormous focal length of 750mm at f/5. This will allow you to take high resolution images of galaxies with their spiral structure, or of gas nebulae. |

Until recently 150mm aperture refractors have been reserved to observatories and a few really rich people. Chinese mass-production has attempted to change this for some time. Recently the production quality of the Chinese manufacturers has reached a very good level, while at the same time prices have remained much lower than would be possible for production within Europe. The 150mm refractor with 1200mm focal length is at the upper limit of what can be called portable. The tube is some 125cm long and weighs about 12kgs. Other than the shorter focal length rich field refractor this model is suited for all astronomical observations. Visual Use: This refractor is a high performance telescope for observations of objects within our solar system. Jupiter's moons become small discs of different size rather than just points of light. Mars reveals many details including its polar caps (filters are always recommended when viewing Mars). Moon is of course a particular highlight, with countless craters, ridges and other details that make you feel like you actually were there! Outside our solar system 150mm aperture offer plenty of light for serious deep sky work. You can watch gas nebulae, globular clusters (dissolved into single stars) and many galaxies. We recommend to use 2" accessories for extended deep sky objects - you will then not only see the object itself, but also many surrounding stars for a more aesthetic image. Astro-Imaging: The telescope is suited both for planetary and lunar imaging (e.g. with a webcam) and long exposure deep sky imaging. We recommend to invest in a very sturdy mount to accomodate the heavy and long tube. |

Aperture 80mm ... Focal Length 600mm
ED refractor with very good optical quality and an excellent value for money |

![]() |
On the search for a most versatile and powerful instrument with particular focus on portability a compact ED refractor always was among the top options, only the relatively high price often stood in the way - until now! Advantages of a compact ED refractor: - extremely portable because of the short tube. The telescope is fully suited for airline travelling. - sharp and contrasty images on the moon and planets. False colour (the major contrast killer in a normal achromatic refractor) is drastically reduced. - excellently suited for CCD imaging and digital imaging - wonderful rich-field observations are possible with the short focal length of this telescope. 2" accessories are recommended - the refractor resembles a powerful telephoto lens for astronomical as well as classical photography - focal length 600mm, focal ratio f/7.5 |

Aperture 100mm ... Focal Length 900mm
An excellent telescope for observing the planets, and a wonderful all-purpose instrument |

![]() |
An ED refractor with an aperture of a generous 100mm is generally considered a desirable but expensive all-purpose telescope. And now the last disadvantage has disappeared: Skywatcher offers an ED refractor with 100mm aperture at a price that had previously been thought impossible! The ED 100 is a perfect telescope for people who enjoy to observe the moon and the planets, but it is also an excellent all purpose telescope. Its good optical quality results in great overall performance. Advantages of an ED refractor: - very portable. Skywatcher ED 120 PRO
|
Aperture 120mm ... Focal Length 900mm
All-purpose telescope with even better deep sky performance and good colour correction |

![]() |
This large-aperture ED refractor is a wonderful all-purpose instrument. With 120mm aperture it collects a lot of light for serious deep sky work as well as high power planetary observing. Naturally colour correction is not as perfect as on the ED 100 with its longer focal ratio, but false colour is very little and doesn't disturb the overall optical quality. With a tube length of 90cm the telescope is still highly portable. Advantages of an ED refractor: - much more portable than an achromat with similar colour correction and consequently much longer focal ratio. - sharp and contrasty images on the moon and planets. False colour (the major contrast killer in a normal achromatic refractor) is drastically reduced. - excellently suited for CCD imaging and digital imaging - we also offer focal reducers and field flatteners for this telescope for even better results - wonderful wide-field observations are possible with the relatively short focal length of this telescope. 2" accessories are recommended Astro Imaging: With its fast focal ratio the telescope is excellently suited for astro imaging. For this you should use the William Optics 0.8x field flattener for best results. You will then be able to take wonderful pictures of deep sky objects with moderate exposure times. |

TS RFT 1007 - Rich Field / Binocular / Photographical Refractor
Tube can be shortened for use of binocular viewers!
|
Aperture 100mm, Focal Length 700mm
Excellent image quality - 2" Crayford Focuser (360° rotatable) - tube can be shortened for use of binocular viewers or special photographical equipment |

|
|
The TS RFT 1007 clearly sets itself apart from the many Chinese refractors, both in terms of quality, design and included accessories. The mechanical quality of the tube is particularly high. The tube is assembled in Germany. We find the versatility of this instrument particularly stunning!
For many amateurs this telescope is certainly more interesting than a simple 100mm ED with its limited possibilities. Solar System Deep Sky |

Astro Imaging With Focal Reducers - No Problem at all! Astro imaging with CCD cameras is becoming ever more popular. The only disadvantage is that a typical CCD chip is too small to catch extended objects. With a strong focal reducer on the other hand you often don't get into focus with most telescopes, there is no sufficient back focus. With the RFT 1007 this is no problem - just remove the rear part of the tube for another 120mm of back focus. You can use strong focal reducers without a problem. Compact Dimensions - Ideal for Airline Travelling With a shortest tube length of 45cm the RFT 1007 fits in any carry on luggage. The telescope can be split into three separate parts:
|
|
|
|
| Split Tube The tube can be shortened easily and without any tools. First you screw off the focuser with its large knurled nut. Then you unscrew the rear part of the tube. After that you only need to screw on the focuser again. You have turned the RFT 1007 into a telescope with an additional 120mm back focus for easy adaptation of extreme accessories such as binocular viewers. The extension tube has the same diameter as the main tube. That way you can pull the tube rings back over the extension tubes for balancing heavy accessories. |
|
![]() |
Easy Use of Binocular Viewers - Without Glass Path Corrector! The rear part of the tube can be unscrewed for an additional 120mm of back focus. This allows you to use all standard binocular viewers without glass path corrector. You will get the full field of view for deep sky observing - only limited by the binocular viewer itself. The unwanted focal extension caused by glass path correctors is eliminated. On the moon and the planets as well as for nature observing you will notice a gain in image quality and contrast by eliminating this unneccessary optical component. ............
