The first of the brand-new SCOPOS Apo line. The TL 805 APO combines excellent mechanical quality, several clever features, a modular design and an excellent optical quality - and all this at a very attractive price! Specifications: |
|
|
TL 805 Focuser: We put particular emphasis on the focuser. Unlike other low-cost apochromats we prefer to use a high quality Crayford focuser that is able to bear heavy accessories up to 4kgs with the proper setting. Focus travel is about 74mm. The focuser has a brass compression ring to hold 2" and 1.25" accessories in place (2" on 1.25" adaptor included). Optional 1:10 Dual Speed Microfocuser: For photographical use we recommend the focuser with integrated two-speed 1:10 microfocuser (left image). The larger focus knobs offer the usual full speed focus motion. For a more precise focus motion you can use the smaller fine focusing knob. |

Adaptation For Accessories On Top Of The Telescope: A recommended optional accessory is the Baader quick release finder base. It is attached directly to the tube ring. It allows you to attach finderscopes, cameras, ... |
Two Finderscope Options:
|
| Using the TL 805 APO on Tripods and Astronomical Mounts: The tube ring of the TL 805 APO has an integrated 1/4" camera tripod thread. It allows you to attach the telescope directly to camera tripods. ...... Camera Tripods Using the PS Foto Deluxe you can attach the TL 805 APO to all astronomical mounts with the Vixen standard quick release device. Examples of such mounts are: This is a mount we recommend warmly for nearly all uses of the TL 805 APO. The Giro Mini (see image right, version on XT tripod, with quick release saddle plate) serves as an ideal mount both for nature observing and for astronomy. It is supremely compact and light............ Further Information |

Concerning the APO Lens: The TL 805 APO offers a triplet apochromatic lens. The lenses are cemented, eliminating internal reflections and ghost images. Glasses used: Ohara FSL-5 (equivalent to Schott FK-5) Ohara NBM-51 (equivalent to Schott KzFSN4) This combination of glasses was chosen for its good colour correction without the need for an air-spaced design. As a result there are only two glass-to-air surfaces. Transmission is excellent (also due to the excellent multi-layer coatings) and ghost images are effectively suppressed. Great care is taken in the cementing process, preventing internal stress and thus eliminating problems caused by extreme temperatures. |

Two Colours Available: There are two different colours of the Scopos TL 805 APO: White: The classical colour of astronomical refractors. This colour is also recommended for solar observers because heat is reflected off the tube better than in the darker tube. "Late Bronze": A classy, elegant and above all exotic colour for a classy and elegant telescope. For people who prefer their telescope not to look just like their neighbour's. For birdwatching the dark colour is recommended because it doesn't frighten the birds and beasts as the white one might. |

Aperture 90mm - Focal Length 600mm - Triplet Lens

Standard scope of delivery - including beautiful CNC machined tube rings, retractable dewcap (with locking screw), 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 dual speed microfocuser.

The Scopos TL 906 APO is the larger counterpart to the popular TL 805 (above). It offers the same if not improved optical quality at a larger aperture, a slightly faster focal ratio, and at only a very slightly higher price. This makes the TL 906 one of the most competitive 90mm APO refractors we know! As can be expected from a good triplet APO the image will remain sharp and contrasty even at high magnifications. At the same time the short focal ratio allows you to reach large fields of view as well for stunning rich-field views. Specifications: Aperture 90mm - Focal Length 600mm Lens Type: cemented Triplet Optimized knife-edge baffles Split Tube for use of binocular viewers and exotic accessories Retractable dewcap with locking screw 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 dual speed microfocuser CNC tube rings (pair) We check all telescopes on our artificial star prior to shipping it. That way we can find and replace any telescopes that might suffer from decentration. |

TL 906 Focuser: We put particular emphasis on the focuser. 1:10 Dual Speed Microfocuser: For photographical the focuser has an integrated two-speed 1:10 microfocuser. Concerning the APO Lens: The TL 906 APO offers a triplet apochromatic lens. The lenses are cemented, eliminating internal reflections and ghost images. The key glass here is FPL-53, a very special low dispersion glass which offers a particularly good colour correction without the need for an air-spaced design. As a result there are only two glass-to-air surfaces. Transmission is excellent (also due to the excellent multi-layer coatings) and ghost images are effectively suppressed. Great care is taken in the cementing process, preventing internal stress and thus eliminating problems caused by extreme temperatures. No Decentration or Pinched Optics - guaranteed! Each Scopos TL 906 is tested prior to shipment. We make an image of the artificial star at high magnification. This image is included with the shipment. Any decentration or pinched optics would clearly be visible on the artificial star - should any telescopes with such a defect be found they would not be shipped to the customer. How to Attach The Telescope to a Mount You can use many standard dovetail plates. They can be easily attached to the tube rings of the telescope with one screw each. We recommend the PS 21 dovetail plate for most applications. It is compatible to (among others): Vixen ... GP , Sphinx , Porta Celestron ... ADM, CAM Skywatcher ... EQ-4 through EQ-6 TS .... Astro 4 , Astro 5 The PS 21 also has a 1/4" thread that allows you to attach the telescope to a sturdy camera tripod. |

The Scopos Observer 80 is a compact rich field telescope and a good quality tele lens at the same time. The telescope comes in a beautiful and practical carry case that is even suitable for airline travelling. Mount and Tripod Adaptation The Scopos Observer 80 has an integrated tripod connection thread. It fits nearly all standard camera and video tripods. We also optionally offer dovetail plates for various astronomical mounts with quick release system. With these universal adaptations there are nearly no liimits to the telescope's photographical, astronomical and nature observing capabilities. Applications The Observer 80 is a true allround performer. It is at the same time a powerful spotting scope for birdwatchers, nature observers and target shooters, a powerful tele lens for photography, and a compact high performance rich field telescope. |
![]() |
Image Quality of the Observer 80 A very well corrected achromatic doublet lens is the heart of the Observer 80. It offers high definition, high contrast images both for visual and photographical applications. A sophisticated internal baffling system eliminates stray light and maximizes contrast. All lenses are fully multi-coated for elimination of ghost images and for maximum light transmission and image clarity. Up to a magnification of about 80x the image is very well corrected. Beyond 80x, in particular for lunar and planetary observations, we recommend the use of a filter for reduction of the secondary spectrum (false colour). For this telescope we recommend the Baader Fringe Killer. This is not necessary for nature observing or photography. |
|
|
Focusers of the Observer 80 - Crayford type & Crayford with Microfocuser Even the best of lenses can only offer average results when coupled with too simple mechanics, in particular a too simple focuser. The two available focusers of the Observer 80 are both excellently made and offer smooth and stable focus motion. The focusers accept 2" accessories. An adaptor for 1.25" accessories is included. Photographical T-mount adaptations are available optionally. We offer two variants: The standard focuser (top left) is sufficient for visual use. It offers smooth focus motion free of image shift. Even photographical applications are possible, but for this we rather recommend the next variant: For photographical use we recommend the focuser with integrated two-speed 1:10 microfocuser (lower image). The larger focus knobs offer the usual full speed focus motion. For a more precise focus motion you can use the smaller fine focusing knob.

The Observer 80 as High Performance Tele Lens For photographical use the Observer 80 resembles a powerful yet affordable tele lens with a focal length of 480mm and a focal ratio of f/6. The tele is recommended both for classical earth-bound photography as well as for astro-imaging. Specifications as Tele Lens
For photographical use we recommend the version with 1:10 micro focuser. You will be able to find focus much more easily. |

The Scopos Observer 62 is one of our most versatile compact all purpose telescopes with excellent image quality and reduced secondary spectrum (false colour). Its four element optical layout offers superb correction both on axis and throughout the large field. Applications: Nature Observing & Birdwatching The Observer 62 is both compact and lightweight - ideal for transport. Image quality and definition is excellent with hardly any false colour that is common in other spotting scopes of this price range. As a result you can see fine details in the feathers of a distant bird. A particularly helpful feature: The Scopos Observer 62 doubles as a full quality tele lens for photography (see below). Target Shooting: Spotting scopes are very popular among target shooters to check their aim without having to go closer to the target. But a good image quality is mandatory, otherwise the spotting scope is of little to no use. The Scopos Observer 62 is warmly recommended for this purpose. You can freely choose the magnification with the proper optional eyepieces. If you are not sure about which magnification is best for each particular shooting distance please don’t hesitate to ask! The Scopos Observer 62 accepts standard 1.25” accessories (accessories are not included in the scope of delivery). This telescope is also particularly well suited for astro-imaging. At the same time you can use it as a tele lens for terrestrial photography as well: |

Compact Transport Dimensions This image demonstrates the extremely compact dimensions of the Scopos Observer 62. Only the excellent mechanical design with the retractable dewcap makes this possible. When working with the telescope just pull out the dewcap to full working length - it will remain in position without the need to lock it. The dewcap effectively prevents the formation of dew on the front lenses and also doubles as baffle against stray light. The Focuser of the Observer 62 Even the best of lenses can only offer average results when coupled with too simple mechanics, in particular a too simple focuser. The focuser of the Observer 80 is excellently made and offers smooth and stable focus motion. The focuser accepts 1.25" accessories and holds them firmly with a compression ring. Clear aperture is 44mm until the 1.25" adaptor. |
